Just returned from a one week trip to Tasmania with the family. As always, had some great food in Tassie and discovered Pagans Cider near Cygnet. The main thing that pleased us was that when we fronted the Europcar counter at Hobart airport, we discovered that the Ford Focus we had booked had morphed into a Volvo V40 T4. A great gesture that we appreciated very much.
The Volvo was a nice car to drive and very economical but had some niggling ergonomic issues. The main thing I disliked was that the brake pedal is too high in relation to the throttle. You’ve got to lift your foot up off the throttle to put it on the brake rather than just slide it across like on my Ford. It is a small car in the same class as the Merc A-Class but the rear seats and boot area is very constricted.
While they have lots of new type gadgets, I can’t see the value of replacing my Fairlane with one of these new cars at $45k plus.
Thanks again to Europcar.
